Once upon a time (40 years ago), I was living in a small town of Valpolicella (wine region, north of Verona, Italy) and passionate about out-door activities, gardening, raising rabbits…
I started with one pregnant rabbit. Several births later, I had 10 females and 2 boys producing on an ‘industrial’ pace – giving birth to more rabbits every 4 weeks. I had to look for a solution to recycle all that rabbit manure: I went back to my mentor, who sold me the first female rabbit and I came home with a plastic shopping bag of worms (a very rudimental but effective mean of worm transportation). He solved the same problem I had long
time before me. Needless to say: the idea revolutionized my perspective.
Obviously, back then, I didn’t know a thing about worms – NOTHING. The only
thing I knew was they solved my rabbit manure problem and I could fertilize my
garden organically.
Fast forward four decades, I am still passionate about organic gardening and worms. Now, I live in Neptune, New Jersey, USA and starting my new worm adventure with a bin of 500-550 red wigglers.
First container started on January 1st, 2023 with 500-550 red wigglers:
