Greetings from Armenia!
I recently moved from Florida to the country of Armenia. Starting my worm farming again from scratch. New environment for me with all 4 seasons compared to south Florida hot temps all year round. Exploring the natural environment here during last spring and summer and noticed a wonderful subspecies of the red wigglers. Collected about 1000 from various locations as well as local bait shops. They are thriving and multiplying quickly! I have them in old fiberglass bathtub that I placed in the ground and covered close to my garden and added vegetable scraps from the end of season, aged cow manure, and leaf litter. During the winter I brought about 3/4 of the worms and compost inside to keep from freezing. Feeding them occasionally. Noticed they went into a type of hibernation and looked almost dead…but they weren’t lol! About 1000 worms outside froze solid into a big block with some compost I left in bin. I thought we’ll..they are certainly dead and decomposed! I was wrong again! It’s now spring time here and the frozen worms outside are moving around and happy! Crazy how these creatures survived! 🤷🏻♂️🪱
