Hi Everyone,
Y'all have been great helping me learn more through your answers to my questions, and reading others posts. Thank you....
I have a horse farm with many stalls. I've piled up the manure with shavings and have been composting it. I turn it with a tractor every couple days, and the compost is very nice. The shavings we use in the stalls are fine sawdust. Could this possibly be my food sole food source for the Red Wigglers?
I want a CFT system, and have a shed on the farm I'm going to convert. I have space for 4 8x3 bins, BUT I have space vertically, could I not go up and stack them? Using the lid for the bottom to catch the castings from the top?
In the CFT system will the cacoons be in the finished castings at the bottom? In previous discussions I read that y'all were using breeder buckets. I plan to use this method when I get my CFT built to grow the herd 😁🪱 Can i use the pre-composted horse manure in the bucket?
I have started a trial run with the worms and the horse manure compost. I have 2000 worms in an old water trough with very aged manure at the bottom , and slowly adding the pre-composted manure in layers as needed. They seem to be thriving.
What are y'alls thoughts? I'm very excited to get this going and my main objective is to sell castings, compost, and a mix of compost & castings locally first, then expand.
Sincerely, Rexx
