Good News!
Well I was trying to fix the final issues of my future large scale operation before my 3 breeder populations get too big. I planned on using our barn loft to house the worms, but I had no idea what to do during too cold/hot weather.
My 1 mature worm bin and 2 growing are currently in our basement (by the door, only half is underground lol) and I had a great idea! :D
Previously, close to where the worms were was a giant pile of any and everything (we moved and dad tends to be a hoarder :P ) which was obviously vacant. I talked to my mother about it and she agreed I could use that area for an indoor worm operation! So now I can use the trays and shelving :D
....Which brings me to the second part of this post
Questions and issues
I need some help with the shelving and trays.
1: How do I build the shelving? Just 2" x 4" would work? Keep in mind I have access to Skids (they give them away at some places)
2: Where do I get the trays. I cannot get a clear answer on this somehow. Some people say online, some say Lowe's, some hardware stores, I am kinda at a loss. I don't have much funding to work with maybe $100 at most and I don't want to squander it uselessly.
3: I plan to fill the rest of my empty bins with fresh bedding and put 25 or 50 mature worms in each. My adult population grew to 500 to 700 and that was 2 1/2 weeks ago, I am going to sort them again Tuesday. I actually got this from something Brooke said about her system which led me to do a quick look up on Bentley Christie (I think, sorry if it's not :P) and he said he took 25 worms in a small bin and multiplied so and so, which just gave me the idea since I was gonna prefill them anyway.
Well this was kind of a chaotic post, thanks for any answers you might give! Have a great day and keep on worming
