Is anyone else using peat moss as part of their worm bedding? I've been using it for half my bedding volume, and I like it very well except it is hard to squeeze out after soaking it to get it to the right dampness.
I have been soaking in ample water. One source I read says to "dampen" it and leave sit for at least 24 hours. Is that really enough to cancel out the acidity? Or do I need to continue full on soaking it?
I was going to use plain compost as bedding to avoid the above hastle, but when I brought home a tub full, it had existing worms in it...which eould be fine except I read that even though most worms can't/don't interbreed, there is one variety that does...and i am raising dutch red wigglers for a supplier and can't let anything like that happen!!
I am still trying to figure out my perfect, simple bedding. Any tips? Thank you!
